The Sporting Spirit
Our approach to sports is in line with our central belief that education focuses on the development of the whole child and that every student has the capacity to enjoy success and gain personal satisfaction from sports.
Therefore, our Physical Education programme across all levels is based on giving as much exposure to a variety of disciplines as possible. These include age-appropriate fitness fundamentals, and individual and team games that target both the physical and social domains.
These qualities will equip students with a life-long attitude towards sports where students will continue to be physically active resulting in a healthier lifestyle, even after their school life.
The San Anton School Sports Career Development Programme (SCDP) is designed to support individual students who have already reached significant levels of proficiency or display notable potential in their chosen individual sports. This initiative aims to refine their skills and technique even further.
Through this programme, students have the opportunity to achieve excellence in their preferred sport, while pursuing their academic curriculum. They are able to integrate their sport training with their respective sports clubs, into their daily school routine, all while receiving official certification for their effort.
Upon successful participating in this programme as an option in Grade 10, students will be granted the Applied Award in Sport Career Development Programme ( MQF Level 3) upon completing Grade 12. The Journey towards this achievement begins in Grade 8 and 9 with the successful completion of the same programme at MQF Level 1. Subsequently, a comprehensive three-year programme is offered, dedicated to fostering their potential in their chosen sport, while simultaneously gaining broader exposure to various sport-related domains.
Equipped with the essential skills and knowledge, participants are prepared for diverse career pathways within the realm of sports, extending beyond just playing the sport, thus nurturing a holistic understanding of the sporting world.
