74 of our Grade 8 students and 10 educators departed for the City of Light for an unforgettable three-day adventure.
Over three days, our young mathematicians immersed themselves in a jam-packed itinerary of Maths-inspired activities across Paris before joining students from around the world at the spectacular Maths Live! Conference at Disneyland Park. Who says Maths can't be magical?
We couldn't be prouder of these amazing young minds who represented our school on an international stage. It was the kind of learning that went far beyond the classroom — unforgettable experiences and challenges, new friendships, and a whole lot of numbers!
Our Grade 8 mathematicians were off to a flying start in the City of Light. After touching down in Paris, they wasted no time diving into an action-packed day of exploration and discovery. First stop was the iconic City of Science and Industry, Europe's largest science museum, where interactive exhibits brought the worlds of mathematics, technology, and science to life in the most engaging way imaginable. Right next door, the stunning La Géode — a giant mirrored geodesic sphere housing one of the world's most immersive IMAX dome theatres — gave our students a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. Throughout their visit, our budding mathematicians put their specially designed Maths Journals to work, tackling real-world challenges every step of the way.
Paris breakfast? Croissants. Paris classroom? The Louvre. Our Grade 8s didn't go to Paris just to sightsee — they went to think! Fresh from breakfast, they were straight to work at the iconic glass pyramid, solving real maths challenges on location. How many triangular faces were on one side of the pyramid? How much light poured through if every pane let in 2 units? It turned out the world's greatest art museum was also a pretty amazing maths lesson. After crushing their Maths Challenge at the Louvre, they explored the breathtaking Notre-Dame, marvelled at the magnificent Eiffel Tower, fuelled up on traditional French crêpes, and put their maths skills to the test once again with a Maths Trail through the stunning Jardin des Plantes.
At the crack of dawn on the final day, our unstoppable young mathematicians and their educators kicked off an adventure like no other — heading straight to Disneyland Park for the thrilling Maths Live Conference! Alongside hundreds of students from every corner of the globe, they dived into electrifying sessions led by three world-class speakers who turned maths into pure magic. And the excitement didn't stop there — our students took on the Maths Park Challenges, solving problems, thinking big, and proving that maths wasn't just a subject — it was an adventure!
A big and wonderful round of applause for our educators who delivered an engaging educational programme every step of the way and gave our students a Parisian, mathematical adventure of a lifetime!
