San Anton School's beloved Pets Day returned to the Junior Sector today, transforming our amphitheatre into a magical menagerie!
Students, teachers, and parents arrived with beaming smiles and an incredible array of furry and feathered friends – from playful dogs and curious cats to gentle tortoises, colorful birds, and tiny hamsters.
This year's celebration featured educational booths staffed by animal experts, giving students the chance to meet with an animal therapist, and representatives from the Association for Abandoned Animals, BirdLife Malta, and 2nd Chance Horse Rescue. They learnt valuable lessons about animal care and welfare that they'll carry with them for years to come.
School Chaplain, Fr. Christopher Caruana, blessed all the pets and led a heartwarming prayer service that brought our community together in gratitude.
The highlight of the morning? An exciting demonstration by the canine unit of the Malta Correctional Services Agency! Sergeant Major Ian Cuschieri and his canine partner Bugsy wowed the audience with impressive agility tricks. Bugsy even performed "CPR" on his master and posed for selfies. He really was unstoppable!
Pets Day marked the perfect culmination of Animal Awareness Week throughout the Early Years and Junior Sector, during which our students participated in various fundraising activities supporting Malta's animal sanctuaries.
What a wonderful day celebrating the special bond between children and animals
