Last Thursday and Friday 6 th and 7 th March 2008, the Grade Two and Grade Three classes were in for a treat. Nutritionists from the Home Economics Seminar Centre were once again invited to the school where they met each class individually and delivered a most innovative, interactive nutritional presentation based on every child`s favourite story of “Tigger and Friends.”
Through fun and games, the children named their favourite Pooh characters, whilst the lecturers animated the sessions and delivered their nutritional message. They also learnt to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy foods as they helped Tigger organise a healthy birthday party. Excitement ran high through the class as the kids cheered and sang along to various catchy songs such as The Broccoli Song¸ Five a Day and marched to the tune of the Phyto Chemicals who fight germs to protect our health!
A big thank you to Lorraine, Therese and Sonia from the Home Economics Seminar Centre for their time and their innovative educational presentation which will surely not be forgotten by the children.
This event is another Healthy Eating Initiative organised by the school, as part of its commitment to conveying the healthy eating message, following the implementation of the Food Policy.
