Sports Day 2008

At San Anton School, we believe that Sports is an important part of a child`s every- day life. Our curriculum aims to develop a range of skills through a well-structured and balanced programme. We develop an appreciation of concepts of fair play, sportsmanship, self-discipline and respect for rules, together with an understanding of the importance of exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This enhances confidence and self-esteem, and also helps the child to have a positive approach to leisure activities which may be carried into adult life

With this in mind, the Junior Sectors` Sports Days were held on the 7 th and 8 th of May this year. The School grounds were bustling with colourful activity as the children donned bright T- Shirts in their house colours and were eager to perform. Excitement ran high as the parents took their seats and the children began to prepare for the first race after a brief welcome by Ms. Vicki and Ms. Rosanne.

The younger students of the Junior Sector from Day Care to Grade Three participated in a number of unusual races including the Shopping Game, Sorting Food Race, Veggie Race and Bunny and Carrot Race, to name but a few. The children also got to cheer for their parents in a Water Race for the mummies and a Shoe Race for the daddies.

Students in Grades Four and Five participated in team races involving different skills, which will help them to take part in different sports in the coming years. Meanwhile the Grade Six and Seven students participated in mini-tournaments in football, handball, cricket and basketball in order to win points for their house colours.

The Yellow House was awarded the Shield this year, whilst it is important to note, each and every student was awarded a medal for participation.

Well done to all, and many thanks to all the parent helpers who prepared and sold the Fresh Fruit Salad and Snacks which were being sold in the Foyer.

Vivian Corporation sponsored Bioderma Sunblock which was given to all Students on the day.
