On Thursday 28th January the Grade 1 classes were invited to the San Anton Presidential Palace to meet Mrs. Abela, the President`s wife.
The children were really excited, all expecting to see a queen in her castle, as whilst they had all visited San Anton Gardens, they had never had the opportunity to take a peek inside the Palace and private grounds. But this was all about to change . . ..
Cameras clicked away as Mrs. Abela greeted the children who presented her with a lovely bouquet of flowers and four large cards specially made for her by the children, representing Maltese traditions.
The children also sang the National Anthem, and some traditional Maltese rhymes which were enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Abela thanked everybody and the children were treated to home-made cake and fresh orange juice to drink.
After saying their goodbyes the children all went to the President’s private garden for a picnic lunch on the lawn. The children were delighted to be able to run around and what a surprise they had when a peacock strutted away from them, surprised by the excitement of the children, many of whom had never seen such a large bird!
All in all it was a morning to remember, and we thank all the parents who made it possible.
