San Anton School Chosen to launch L-Istrina 2007 Campaign

San Anton School was the chosen school to launch the fourth edition of the BOV L-Istrina campaign for charity, under the patronage of the President`s wife Mary Fenech Adami. Mrs Fenech Adami was welcomed to San Anton by Vicki Anastasi – Head of School and David Pace representing the School Board and led to the Foyer where she was greeted by Ms Marthese Micallef`s Grade 4 class and Ms Joanna Attard`s Grade 7 class who were all holding the symbolic and colourful L-Istrina piggy banks.

Gordon Pace co-ordinator of the L-Istrina campaign introduced the campaign to the members of the press present and Michael Galea, Head of the CEO`s office at BOV stressed the popularity of the piggy bank campaign which has become an annual event eagerly awaited by all school children around the Island.

Vicki Anastasi – Head of San Anton School, thanked Ms Fenech Adami for visiting the School and L-Istrina for choosing our school to launch the campaign, to further emphasise the social values that the school instills in its children.

Mrs Fenech Adami then contributed the first donation into a piggy bank held by Grade 7 Student Sky Howes and Mattea Grech a grade 4 student presented her with a fragrant bouquet of flowers.

She was then led by Vicki Anastasi, to several classes in the Junior and Senior Sectors to place the piggy banks in the classrooms and to admire the children’s colourful work and the cheerful ambience created by the Junior Sector teachers.

This event was broadcast that night on the 08.00pm evening news on our national TV station, and our San Anton Children graced the front page of The Times of Malta, the following morning.
