During the past two weeks, Grade 7s were discussing Food as their science topic.
They discussed the food pyramid and the importance of including the various types of food that constitute a balanced diet.
To conclude the topic, the children, together with their teachers, compared their school packed lunches to the ideal balanced meal. As a practical session they prepared a healthy meal themselves. This consisted of a healthy burger in a bun for protein and carbohydrates, with a slice of cheese for fat, lettuce and fruit for fibre, vitamins and minerals. The students all sat together eating their tasty meal.
