Last Wednesday 5 th March 2008, as the children in Grade 1.1 arrived at school, they were in for a big surprise. Their class teacher Ms Abigail was about to take them on an Easter Egg Hunt in the beautiful valley of Imselliet which surrounds the school ! The children could barely contain their excitement as they put on their bunny hats which they had previously prepared in class, and got ready to set off on their adventure.
It was a beautiful sunny morning as they skipped down to the valley which was dotted with lovely yellow crown daisies. A healthy picnic lunch was enjoyed by all to gather some energy for the hunt, whilst Ms. Abby and her Mummy- Helpers had some time to hide the eggs in the grass.
When the egg hunt commenced, excitement ran high as the children scrambled on the grass in search of the coloured flags, ( which had been very well hidden) indicating the presence of the sought-after Easter eggs. In order to ensure that everyone got their fair share, the kids had to find three eggs bearing their name, and one could hear squeals of delight as they rushed to find these eggs..
Once all the eggs had been found, with some help from Ms Rosanne and Ms Vicki, they sat down on the grass to enjoy the delicious treats and had a rest. Soon it was time to go back to class and all the class climbed back up the hill to school sporting giant smiles on their faces. A good time was had by all, at an event that will not be forgotten.
Everyone thanked Ms Abigail and Mummy Helpers Isabel, Marika and Nikki for organizing this event, whilst ensuring the enjoyment and safety of all.
San Anton School firmly believes that a child`s imagination is something to be encouraged and treasured. Young children learn many skills through imagination, from independent play, interactive play, to language and cognitive skills, to name a few.
Such activities are wonderful ways to allow children to dream and act out all sorts of fun adventures. |
