Our Earth is very fragile and we should do everything possible to take care of it and preserve it for future generations. With this idea in mind and in order to make environmental awareness an ongoing part of the curriculum in our schools, Dinja Wahda was launched on Thursday 15 th November 2007, by Minister for the Environment and Rural Affairs, George Pullicino. Birdlife Malta, sponsored by Bank of Valetta is organizing this initiative. The launch took place at Savio College in Dingli where San Anton School was represented by two Grade 6 students, Jasmine Clarke and Andrew Sant.
The children enjoyed hearing about the importance of our commitment to the environment and later made a robin pompom. Points will be given to each school for environmental activities and projects carried out by the students. An awards ceremony will take place next year where prizes will be awarded to the school which collects the most points.
