On Friday 27 th October, Junior Sector students in Grade 5 had an interesting and informative talk by dentist Dr Maria Borg BChD.
Dr Borg explained how the milk teeth were pushed out and replaced by the adult set of teeth. When they were asked to name the different teeth, the children answered correctly, remembering what they had learnt in class.
Using a huge toothbrush and a set of enormous teeth, Dr Borg explained how teeth should be regularly brushed, to avoid unsightly stains and to be kept clean and healthy.
She explained how the tooth is structured and what happens when decay sets in. I am sure that the children will remember the bacteria monster, fighting its way into a tooth, forming a cavity! She patiently answered the hundred and two questions which the students asked her.
At the end of the talk, the children were given a tube of toothpaste and informative material to remind them to keep their teeth clean.
