CULTURAL EVENING AT SAN ANTON MIDDLE SCHOOL

The Greek theatre at San Anton School, recently came alive once again for the annual evening of Dance, Song and Drama. This year’s performance was the 8th time this event was being held. The children and their parents eagerly await this performance because, although a lot of hard work is involved and a lot of sacrifices are made, the satisfaction on everyone’s face after a good show makes it all worthwhile.

The evening got off to an excellent start with the Middle Sector choir, under the direction of Ms Michelle Abela, telling everyone that it was ‘Showtime’. And so it was, because all the Grade 7 classes went on stage to perform their play which they had been rehearsing for a number of weeks with their drama teacher, Ms Angele Coppini. The first class performed ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’ based on the poem by Robert Browning while Roald Dahl’s ‘BFG’ inspired the second group of children. ‘The Tiger’s Bones’ by Ted Hughes, was adapted to the stage by another class, whereas the last group got their inspiration from ‘ Alice in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carrol. Ms Jackie Fenech helped the students to build the stage backdrops and most of the props. During the plays the choir was kept busy with a number of adapted songs.

Sadly, all good things come to an end. But not before everyone present was invited to refreshments prepared by school staff and parent helpers, providing the perfect ending to a great evening.
