Carnival Fever

12th February 2010

As San Anton School opened its gates this morning, the Junior Sector was transformed into a kaleidoscope, as children arrived to School in their carnival costumes. The corridors were awash with colour as Pirates, Clowns, Cowboys, Robots, popular Cartoon Characters, and Super Heroes trooped around the school whilst Fairies and Princesses flitted around the classes.

Many teachers had to teach classes full of Jungle Animals, Butterflies and Bugs which was somewhat unorthodox but most amusing.

During their break. the proud children paraded in the Common Area and danced with their teachers ( who were also in costume) to the tune of upbeat carnival songs.

The younger students also put the finishing touches on their carnival masks to take home.

San Anton School firmly believes that a child`s imagination is something to be encouraged and treasured. Young children learn many skills through imagination, from independent play, interactive play, to language and cognitive skills, to name a few. Pretend play and dress up are wonderful ways that allow children to dream and act out all sorts of fun adventures.

This morning`s activities was certainly an occasion to really see the children`s imagination in full flight, and get them fired up for a long weekend of Carnival Revelry.
