On Wednesday 4th February 2009 , San Anton School organized a successful blood drive for parents and staff as part of the School`s ongoing commitment towards the local community.
The newly refurbished Mobile Blood Unit was based in the school car park for a day and many parents and members of staff took up the opportunity to become blood donors.
“ This was our first attempt at organising a blood drive and we are very satisfied with the response, and the amount of actual first-time donors, when you consider the exhaustive criteria that any first-time donor has to meet.” commented Ms Agnes Bonett, the School`s Nurse and Health Officer who organized this initiative.
“We also feel proud that through the support of our school community, we have responded to the national request for blood donors and have done our share towards ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply.” concluded Ms Bonett.
The school also invited parents and staff from the neighbouring school San Andrea, to participate in this initiative.
All donors were given Special K cereal Bars and Tropicana Orange Juice as restorative refreshments, which were kindly sponsored by Charles Darmanin Co. Ltd and Quintano Foods respectively.
